Le 14 Juillet 2012

As the French awake this 14 Juillet 2012 I play you "Le Chant du Départ".Okay, so it was the anthem of the first French empire (and I am not an uncritical fan of Napoleon either) but I chose this one because you will get La Marseillaise everywhere. I chose this version because it gives you the translation and, for once, the French flag flies freely, unencumbered by all their new symbols of la "diversité" that flew over la Bastille to celebrate the election of the socialist president.

I post it quickly, because I fear that, once the new power elites in France are awake over there in the City of dimming Lights, the lyrics, especially the refrain, will probably be sneered at....

La République nous appelle

Sachons vaincre ou sachons périr

Un Français doit vivre pour elle

Pour elle un Français doit mourir.
