I was okay with Edih Piaf until they really overdid it with "la vie en rose" as obligatory Public Lifts Musac, or in the Supermarkets, where you could not escape it, and now , the piped version has asserted her predominance even down into the public toilets. It's not nice what they did to the magnificent voice of the "Sparrow of Paris" but, whatever Nietzsche or my nanny called it, or what other aspiring philosopers interpret it as.....it just is: There is bound to be a replacement....a (hopefully) dignified successor....to anything even half-way good: .the new Piaf (for me) is Zaz :
