Israel's Proportional Response to HAMAS

One of my favourite writers, Daniel Greenfield aka Sultan Knish  in his elegantly witty (and I think quintessentially Jewish) way  puts it in a nutshell:

"…The world as a whole, not just the occasional liberal brat, will continue being disappointed in Israel for not having magically and non-violently resolved the dilemma of people shooting at it no matter what it does. After all there's already a book titled, "How to Make Peace in the Middle East in Six Months or Less" on the shelf. Why not just read it and do what it says?..."

The Jew Haters, the professional compassionistas, the euphemistically named enemies of democracy such as  nearly any groupuscule sponsored by the UN these days, and assorted herds and hordes are - at the moment - siding with a pack that even the Obama (mis)lead US qualifies as Terrorist Group: HAMAS. The more moderate  ones of the "IdonthateJewsIonlyhateIsraelandZionists" religion point their accusatory fingers at Israel, simpering:  "Disproportional Response  tsk tsk tsk" . It is to them that I direct the question:

So, what would be a "Proportional Response?"

Not expecting a reasonable answer from "them", this clip of West Wing will do it for me.
